Better weather for this weekend after last week's wash-out

Weather
A much better prospect with the weather this Saturday and some cricket. The BBC promises sunny intervals with gentle breezes, temperatures ranging from 14 to 22 degrees, with only 1-2% chance of rain during match play time. Hurrah!

Last week
There are not any results to report on from last weekend, which as I predicted saw almost a complete wipe out of games across the Surrey Championship.

It affected our Academy XI game on Sunday and also the Surrey Girls under 18s against Hampshire. Monday morning at 7am the ground was like a paddy field.

This week
Turning to our games for this weekend, I think its fair to say that availability has been quite stretched with selection somewhat difficult particularly in the lower elevens, which is not surprising with school holidays in full swing and people desperate to get some kind of break after all the lockdowns.

The first team travel to Cheam for a bottom of the table clash and the second eleven are resident at Sandilands hosting Merstham. Both matches start at 12 noon.

The third team face Banstead at 1743 and the fourth eleven play against Old Wimbledonians away. Both these games start at 1 pm. There is no fifth eleven game today as the match against Epsom was cancelled due to availability.

Arrangements at Addington 1743
With the game at 1743 if you are going to watch, it is recommended that you approach the ground from Spout Hill and park outside the ground along the roads outside, being mindful of the neighbours. This is because there is a two day music festival in Addington Park
this weekend and security precautions have had to be taken.

On Sunday our Trust Development side play against Purley away, which I’m now told is due to start at 11 am. There are no matches at Sandilands on Sunday.

Other news
Very little news from club this week, apart from Raminder our colts manager being made Adder of the Week for his work with our junior section. Both our under 13s and 14s won their respective leagues and our under 11s were runners up in theirs. Well done Ari, Akilesh and Raminder.

Quitea number of our under 14s are also playing in our lower elevens, with Ayoub Khan today playing for the twos.

The bar will be open from 2 pm today.

Good luck to all teams playing this weekend, hope to see you up at the club sometime today.

Best wishes,
Roger
