REPORT – ADDISCOMBE STROLLERS v PURLEY
Bright sunshine greeted the reinvented Addiscombe Strollers for their first match of 2017. With the weather forecast threatening rain later in the day, it was a good toss for Captain Jamie Lippett to win, and Sean Crowie joined Ben Cox to open the batting. After a couple of scares, they both set about building a score before Ben departed for 25. Sean then moved up several gears, helped by a cameo slog from Sanjay Sharma (14) and a more measured 32 from Nalin Nilaweera. Sean reached 113 before the rain came down, leaving the skipper on a flawless 4 n.o., and the score on 220 after 33 overs. The rain got heavier, and in spite of taking an early tea, the decision was taken to abandon the game. A good start for the Strollers – unfinished business for the next game.
The remaining players who did not bat: James Hartwright, Barry Hooper, Ian Harris, Hitesh Patel, Andrew Bellwood, Gareth Whitehouse.
Many thanks to umpires Steve Maguire and Jamie’s Dad – roll on the next match on 18th June. Please contact Jamie jlippett@worldinmotion.com if you want to join the squad!
