3 good wins last weekend and some excellent performances

'There has been quite a lot of work at the ground this week, with repairs to the nets and clearing of the scorebox. Thanks to Peter Murphy for his help in all these areas'
- Roger Hurrion, Chairman

The weather
Rather overcast start to the day, and obviously rain overnight.

However the covers were put on at Sandilands. The forecast for today is very variable with weather warnings issued for some parts of the country.

Croydon is supposed to experience light rain and gentle breezes, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 21 degrees, with the prospect of rain during match time ranging from 13% down to 7%.

Last week
Reviewing last week’s results, gave the club the best set that there has been for a number of weeks.

The ones at home to Old Hamptonians managed a losing draw, with Baz Lineker 3 for 56 off 14 overs, Adi Dhond 45, James Ramsey 24 and Rochie 36.

The twos won against Old Paulines by 45 runs and captain Starnsey maintaining that the whole side played extremely well. Cameron Armstrong 54 (congrats to Cameron, who became Adder of the Week), Vivek Patel 8-0-32-4 and Starnsey 9-5-14-3.

Our threes beat Trinity Mid Whits by 157 runs, with Jack Stone, 54, again prolific with the bat, Jon Kuhrt 34, Amal Babu 34 no and Sadiq Monsoor 6-3-8-3.

Not to be outdone the fours won by two wickets against Merton, Vinay Malhotra 8-1-14-4, Arun Gupta 34 and 3-1.

The fives were not so lucky, losing at Reigate Priory in their friendly.

Our Sunday Academy side also lost on Sunday to Purley, although our young team
gave a good account of themselves and with twenty more runs on the board it could have been a different story.

This week

For this week’s games we have the ones away at Sanderstead, 12 noon, twos at Sandilands v Chessington 12 noon, threes v Worcester Park at 1743, 1 pm, the fours v Trinity Mid Whits away 1 pm. The fives have a friendly at Sanderstead on the non-turf wicket 1 pm.

On Sunday the Development team play Spencer away 1.30 pm. The U11s play Southern Rail at 1743, 9.30 am and the U14s are at Caterham 9.30 pm.

Next Tuesday (6th) there is the next round of the Surrey Slam. at Sandilands, playing Wallington, 5.45 start.

Good luck to all teams playing over the weekend and in the next few days.

Other news from the club
The bar will be open today, and staying open for the England match and also open next Tuesday. However it will not be open tomorrow.

There has been quite a bit of tidying up at the ground this last week, with repairs being carried out to the nets and the run up areas. The roll-on net is also being put to good use.
The score-box has also had a massive tidy up and clear out in preparation for the refurbishment on the scoring system, happening next Friday. Thanks to Peter Murphy for his assistance in all these areas.

Hopefully see you up at the club today.

Best wishes,
Roger
