The ECB's 'roadmap' for the return of cricket has been published

'Broadly speaking, resumption of cricket revolves around key dates with cricket activities following the rules remaining the same from last season'
- Roger Hurrion, Chairman

The ECB, along with the government, have released the guidelines for resumption of cricket activities, with a follow up of further detailed advice expected during the coming week.

You can see the full details on the ECB website.

Broadly speaking, resumption of cricket and associated activities revolves around key dates with cricket activities following the rules of sanitising and social distancing etc remaining the same as per last season. Club house facilities to remain closed except for toilets.

Some of this can start to operate from and certainly no earlier than 29th March.
From 12th April, outdoor hospitality may operate with rule of 6 operating and from 17th May indoor hospitality operating with rule of 6 applying.

It will not be until at least 21st June before anything like normal service will be resumed and all of these stages are still subject to there being no further government restrictions being put in place due to a rise in the pandemic infections.

For now the grounds and facilities for the purpose of cricket related activities and any other sports still remain closed. The committee will be meeting on Wednesday to discuss and decide about getting the grounds ready and the nets facilities open so that we can operate within the covid regulations.

The Surrey Championship have a meeting on 29th March to decide how the current season might proceed with regards to fixtures and matches, and there is the strong intent to try and operate as much as possible a normal season, but I think much depends upon government’s attitude and advice to restrictions on travel.

I will keep you updated on how things proceed.

Best wishes,
Roger
ACC Chairman
