We are very sad and shocked to share the news that one of our members, Gavin Mander, passed away on Wednesday after a short illness and stay in hospital.
Gavin became a member of Addiscombe CC when his son Jamie joined the club as a junior and Gavin became involved with junior cricket, umpiring and running teams. As time progressed Gavin became a qualified umpire and stood on many occasions as a club umpire for our second eleven, the Development side and in the Surrey Slam. He also willingly umpired in our charity games.
Gavin had been previously been awarded the Locke Award for his services to the club and won the Chairman’s Award at the end of last season (pictured).
Gavin will be sadly missed at the club and Addiscombe has lost a fine member and supporter of club cricket.
The club sends its sincerest condolences to Gavin’s wife Susie, son Jamie and his wider family.
Update: details of funeral arrangements
I have been informed of the funeral arrangements for Gavin’s funeral.
This will take place on Tuesday 22nd November at Croydon Crematorium and will
be strictly family only.
Afterwards at 2.00pm at St. Mildred’s Church, Bingham Road, Addiscombe, there will be a thanksgiving service in remembrance of Gavin for all others to attend.
After the service there will be a wake at Shirley Park Golf Club.
The club will be represented at the service, and notice about donations or floral tributes will be given in due course.
Thank you,
Roger
