A Compounding Victory!

Hoping to continue on with another win the outlook was good as Captain Jack won his fifth toss on the trot and selected to bowl on a rather green wicket (even the practice wickets cut into the outfield didn't look as green).
Reegan opened the attack along with Finn, with Finn bowling very tidily whilst Reegan was back to his best and getting the break throughs at the other end, taking 4 wkts for 8 runs in his 3 overs. Throughout the 22 overs our bowling and fielding was much improved again, it is like we are another team. We continued to take wickets at regular intervals with most bowlers taking a wicket, Daniel had a good spell, even with a few of his deliveries coming down with snow on, to end up with figures of 2 wkts for 6 runs in his 3 overs. Finn returned at the end to take the final wicket on the first ball of the penultimate over with figures of 1 wkt for 6 off 2.1 overs.
Extras were down to 46 this week, our target now is to have a week below 40!
Callum, Daniel, Usama, Adam and Tom all bowled well in their spells too. Adam, a couple too many wides though! And Usama trying to bowl too fast in his last over, spoiling his figures with 8 runs from wides in his last over.
Fielding was also much improved with very little given away, but we must remember to use the long barrier more, we coach it for very good reasons! Adam took a very good catch with the ball hit hard and flat and going over his head.

Having kept the 2nd placed team in the league down to 90 runs we needed to bat well and score regularly.
Jack and Ewan opened the batting with both playing with confidence and well crafted strokes, hitting the bad balls and working the better balls. Additionally there was a real noticeable improvement again in the running between the wickets, spurred on by Ewan's calling between the wickets, perhaps what we do in training is starting to take hold. Jack batted superbly for his 30 (retired), Grace entered the fray and also batted well supporting Ewan in his knock of 27 not out. Unfortunately Grace was caught out on 10 with only a couple of runs required, leaving Callum to come in and run up and down without facing a ball.
All in all a very good batting display. Well done to Ewan who has finally come good and shown us all what he is capable of, let's see more of the same for the rest of the season.

This was by far the best the team has ever played. 

We already have more wins than last year, so hopefully we can continue our winning streak and challenge for a top three finish in the league.
