u13s - A Bad loss.

ACC lose by 35 runs

Having lost the first toss of the year we were still fielding first. Usama opened the bowling, bowling four wides in his first over. This unfortunately set the tone for the rest of the 24overs. The bowling remained wayward with the exception of Finn (who also took a very good catch) and Steven who managed to bowl four overs each with only one wide between them, returning with figures of 1-11 and 1-13; well done you two.
TMW batted very well throughout their 24 overs continually puninishing the bad balls and running well between the wickets, coupled with some sloppy fielding they accumlated the highest score against us this year; 70 runs coming in extras!!

With Jack batting well so far this year and Ewan finding some form in our last game the score was not unreachable.
Jack started off very strong, striking three well hit fours in the first over but succumbed to a straight one shortly after. Ewan , Grace and Callum all fell cheaply, bringing Usama to the crease. He hit the ball to all parts of the ground until having to retire on 31; Adam provided support, finally managing to stay in for more than a few balls and scoring 11. Adam's running between the wickets stood out on the day too with good calling and touching and turning quickly to turn ones into twos.
Wickets continued to fall with some poor shots being played. We were hoping to make the score look respectable with Usama returning to bat after the ninth wicket and two overs to go but he didn't manage to face another ball.

In conclusion, we just didn't bowl well enough. Wide balls give away runs and give no oppurtunity to get wickets. Had we managed to get two or three early wickets the score would have been very different.
