U13s save the best till last!

With a win providing us with the chance to finish second in the league, which would be our highest league finish, the pressure was on to continue our recent good form.
Having lost the toss we were put into bat. Jack (35* including being retired) started his innings in cracking form scoring 20 off the first over including a six, he was retired in the fourth over. Ewan (5) and Grace (12) both played some nice shots to keep the score moving but the score took another leap when Usama (35* Retired) came to the crease. He played his usual innings and dispatched the ball to all parts of the ground hitting three sixes along the way. Callum (15), Omar (6) and Adam (15) all kept the score moving throughout the innings: well done to Callum and Adam for achieving their highest score of the season. Daniel (6) looked good until getting run out, not being ready to take a quick single with a couple of overs to go. The rest of the wickets fell in the last couple of overs, with Jack coming back for the last ball to hit a two.
A very good innings where we achieved our highest score with contributions from everyone. It was very good to see everyone playing good positive shots to keep the score moving. 

With our best bowling line up of the season we just needed to keep our heads and bowl tidily for a win.
Finn (1 for 4 off 2.1 overs) opened the bowling with Reegan (0 for 7 off 3 overs), with both bowling accurately and making scoring difficult. After the first few overs S&M were already well behind the run rate. Usama (1 for 9 off 4 overs) and Ethan (0 for 4 off 2 overs) joined the attack both kept the run rate down, applying pressure to the batting team. This pressure was there throughout which created opportunities to get four good run-outs by Jack, Usama and Reegan. Callum carried on his good form this year bowling tidily for his two overs, Adam had one good over before going for 16 in his second over. Daniel, Ewan and Omar all bowled well picking up a wicket each in their spells. Reegan and Finn returned for the last four overs, Reegan bowled a maiden allowing Finn to wrap things up in the 22nd over.
This was our best bowling performance all round with only 33 coming from extras (our best this season). The fielding was also on song with four run-outs and four catches.

This was truly a case of saving the best till last. Whilst I have already said this earlier this season, this game was the best we have ever played and a fitting end to the season for everyone. Everyone contributed in this game and we finished deserved winners.

We ended the league season in 2nd place with 4 wins, 3 losses and 3 abandoned. Considering our early form we have made real progress over the course of the last three months, so well done to the players for working hard to improve. Let's hope we can carry this through to next season.
