Mixed start to the league season but great wins for 3rd XI and First XI in T20

Good morning all! Hope you have had a good week.

The weather
Bright sunny start to the day which promises to remain with us, with temperatures rising to 21 degrees, sunny intervals and light winds and only 2% chance of rain. Good day for some cricket.

Last week
Last week was the start of the league season and only one side managed a win.

The ones lost at Kempton by 74 runs, although Shakeel, returning to the club managed a fifty, with one stumping and a catch. Welcome back Shaks! Sultan on his debut for the ones took 2 wickets and 2 catches.

The twos lost to Kingstonian by 67 runs, although Rochie bagged 4 wickets for 49 off 9 overs.

The threes (pictured) won their match beating Banstead by 136 runs. Phil Wise 99 and Adder of the Week Congratulations Phil! Paranavaan Waran also scored 69 and Jon Kuhrt got 3 wickets for 11 off 4 overs.

The fours lost to Old Wimbledonians by 4 wickets. Martin Stone scored 41 and Sameer Kumar 42*

The fives lost in their friendly against Woodmansterne.

So something positive to take forward from all those matches into this weeks games. All the scorecards can be accessed on our Play Cricket site.

This week

The first team have a home fixture against Maori Oxshott, 12 noon start. The second team are away to Egham, noon start.

The threes are at Addington 1743, hosting Cheam, 1pm start and the fourth team are away to Putney 1pm. For the second week running we have a 5th team out with a game against Streatham and Marlborough over at Lewisham.

Good luck to all teams playing today.

Tomorrow Woodside are at Sandilands and there are no scheduled junior fixtures.

T20 win

Other successes last week. The first team took on Oxted & Limpsfield, away last Monday in the Surrey Championship T20.

Due to availability and work schedules it was a rather composite side facing 6 first and 5 second teamers from O&L, who expected to win. We even had to start the game with only 10 in the field due to traffic problems for one team member.

However we won by 6 wickets. Alex Roberts 48 and Dan Lineker 46 with the bat and 3 for 32 off 4 overs with the ball. Sultan also hit 32. We now play Beddington at home in the next round date to be arranged.

The only junior side in action last week was our newly formed under 11s managed by Tim Allen, who beat Battersea Lions, with a hat trick from Ashavan. 2 wins in a row,
well done!

A kindly reminder that last date for paying member's subscriptions is 23rd May. No play if you don’t pay!

Hope to see you up at the club today.

Best wishes,
Roger
