4 wickets in 4 balls to snatch a win v Egham and other great memories of ACC

'I was lucky enough to play with amazing group of characters...ACC was, and I am sure remains, a fantastic club'

Name: Grant Braganza

Nickname: GB

How would you describe yourself as a player? A fast-bowler caught inside a very slow-medium pacers' body; overly competitive; a tactical genius and probably a complete nightmare to play against...

Best cricketing memory? Absolutely loads over the years. At ACC it would undoubtedly be taking 4 wickets in 4 balls at Egham (unbelievable teas by the way) for the 2nd XI in a promotion decider. I had the WORST hangover, it was baking hot and they only needed about 20 runs with 7 wickets when carnage ensued. The changing room was bedlam afterwards.

Most embarrassing cricketing moment? To be honest any (every) game where I dropped an absolute dolly (mostly off my own bowling) or got hit for the biggest six of the game.

Favourite Player? I absolutely loved watching fast bowlers rip through batsman growing up – Curtly Ambrose, Waqar Younis and Darren Gough would be my top 3.

(Watch Curtly Ambrose take 7 wickets for 1 run v Australia)

At ACC it would be Antony Starnes, an absolute legend and seriously handsome!

Favourite format to watch? I’m a purist so it would be Test Match all day long. The fact some games still have 3 possible outcomes on the last ball of 5 days is unreal. It also means 5 days avoiding the wife.

Best thing about ACC?
I was lucky enough to play with an amazing group of characters. A club blessed with real talent who would play hard and socialise harder after the match. Outside of the playing members there were great people around the club - from the always happy barman (Steve) to all the spectators and former players who would turn up week after week, always chat and buy drinks. It was, and I’m sure remains, a fantastic club.

From a personal point of view a few people are worth a mention: Mike Rogers who was a great chairman and support when I came over, James Luff who is completely bonkers and would typically end up on my sofa on Saturday nights, Baz Lineker (someone had to take the games seriously) and finally Mooro (Dad) who should be leaving me a nice sum in his will...
