2. Antony Starnes - 2nd XI Captain

Name: Antony Starnes

Nickname: Starnesy

Club Role: 2nd XI Captain

How would you describe yourself as a player?
Aggressive. And as a bowler who thinks he can bat

How long have you played at Addiscombe? Since a Colt. Maroon and Blue, through and through.

What is your best cricketing memory?
Away at Lingfield in a must win match for the Sunday Development XI. Whoever won progressed to the semi-final. It was last ball and we needed five and I only managed to hit a four to get scores level. I thought we tied the game.

When we got back into the changing room, 'Super Rog’ (Roger Hurrion, MBE, ACC Chairman) got the rule book out. He found out that we had actually WON as we had lost less wickets. Changing room erupted into absolute scenes.

What is your most embarrassing moment on a cricket pitch? Too many to narrow it down to one. I’ll tell you a few in the bar next season.

If you could be any player, past or present, who would it be? Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff. Love the Big man’s passion and his drinking ability. I mirror myself on him, on and off the pitch.

Favourite format to watch: All of it really. An Ashes Test has to be my favourite.

Predictions for Addiscombe's 2020 season: All Saturday teams promoted. Lewis Noble most league runs. James Ramsey most league wickets.

Why is Addiscombe CC a great club to join?
Because you get to play with me and enjoy a pint after the game with me. What more could you possibly want?
